Take Me B[ack]

Take Me B[ack]
________________________________________________________________________________________________

If there's one thing this shirt has taught me it's that a LOT of people don't know what ACK is. So a quick background: ACK is the abbreviation for Nantucket Memorial Airport. It is not NAN because 'N' is reserved for military airport installations. Thus ACK was born and embraced by all New Englanders as the proper abbreviation for everyone's favorite summer island. As a disclaimer, I am not in Nantucket, although I wish I was. I've got another four weeks out here before I get to head back to Massachusetts. However, there's no reason I can't wear reminders of home on my back as I explore beach towns around Cali! In one of my more casual outfits, I paired my new Zach Ryan tee with these adorable scalloped shorts (on sale and available in 5 colors!). It was the perfect comfy outfit for walking the jetty and exploring the marina village. If you like my bracelet, you can use my code SCAR25 for a discount!

Beethoven Under the Stars

Beethoven Under the Stars
____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Recently I had my first experience at the Hollywood Bowl. If you're not familiar, the Bowl is huge amphitheater that opened in 1922. It is capable of holding 18,000 people and has hosted everything from philharmonics to rock concerts to presidents. The gorgeous venue is half bleacher seating and half private boxes. I was lucky enough to experience a box where you can be served from an extensive list of food and wine or choose to bring your own picnic. It is a casual setting, but I always like to dress up for performances of any kind, so I opted for this summery dress. These earrings are so fun, if you look closely you will notice the top is a turquoise pom-pom! You can shop both of these pieces at Pink Pineapple Shop, one of my favorite gems in Newport, Rhode Island. Not all of their items are always found online, so I linked other sites or general pages for similar content. If you get a chance, be sure to check out their storefront down on Thames Street!

The Flower Market

The Flower Market
________________________________________________________________________________________________

Today I made my way down to the Los Angeles Flower Market, something that's been on my bucket list since I arrived here. Almost every day the market starts business first thing in the morning and finishes around noon. It's a giant warehouse floor covered in every sort of plant imaginable from succulents to hydrangeas. I was completely overwhelmed and wanted to take everything home with me (especially those sunflowers!). Today, I'm wearing a light linen dress and leather heeled sandals to keep cool in the heat. In a rare moment, my hair is up to show some attention to these beautiful earrings and the bow detail of my dress.

Sharing Favorites: Statement Earrings

Sharing Favorites: Statement Earrings
___________________________________________________________________________________________________

It's no secret that statement earrings are trending this summer! If they have fringe, lanterns, beading or bright colors, I have to have them. They are the cherry on top of any outfit, capable of dressing up a casual outfit or adding some fun to an everyday look. Because I incorporate them into so many of my outfits and blog posts, I've rounded up six of my current favorites to share with you!

               1.

These layered fringes are not only stunning but customizable! You can find these at The Tiny Tassel, where you can select a color for each of the layers. The color combinations are endless, you'll never get enough!
You can find them Here

               2.
These tassels are gorgeous in their simplicity and feature a beautiful marble detail at the top. There is little white does not match, making these a perfect fit in any wardrobe!

               3.
Okay how perfect are these?! They have lanterns, bright colors AND fringe. These are a party on your ears and some of the best statement earrings I've ever found.

               4.

These beauties are a whole lot of tassel when you put them on your ears. I love that in an earring, so these are a personal favorite. J.Crew stocks them in multiple colors (though only this blue is available at the moment) so check in frequently if you're looking for something else. J.Crew has some great statement earrings, I feature them frequently in my posts. Check out previous blogs for ideas!

               5.
These playful tassels come in six different colors and could easily spruce up any outfit! The striped lanterns help these stand apart from similar earrings and the pearl detail is an added bonus!

               6.

Last, but certainly not least, are these pineapple dangles! These take a twist on the usual tassel/fringe earrings we see so much of to give something refreshing and playful. Rightly so, you can find these at Pink Pineapple Shop down in Newport. They stock a plethora of fun statement earrings as well as nautical attire!

That's all for now! Hope you enjoyed something a little different on the blog. Let me know if you purchase any of these or feel free to share your own favorite earrings in the comments!

Patterns and Palm Trees

Patterns and Palm Trees
_________________________________________________________________________________________________

What's the one thing that New England definitely doesn't have? Palm trees! I have to get my fill while I'm over in Cali - and what better outfit to wear than a palm tree print skirt. I know I usually love the heat, but it has been melt-worthy on this coast the past few days. The only thing I'm willing to wear are dresses and skirts. This outfit kept me cool and stylish as I explored the classic streets of Beverly Hills. Because I walked around a lot, I opted for flats and dressed up my outfit with some big jewels on my ears and around my neck.
