Sharing Favorites: Fall Activities 2018

Sharing Favorites: Fall Activities 2018
It's almost the best time of the year! And while the temps might still be spiking up into the 90s, it's never too early to start planning some fun fall activities. If you're anything like me, you'll have something lined up for every weekend now through Halloween. Here are a few ideas in the areas to get you started!

Apple Picking
Check out locations like Honey Pot Hill, located in Stow, MA, or Mack's Apples in Londonderry, NH. My family visits these spots every year. While Hone Pot Hill is bustling with commercialized fall perfection, Mack's will find you in the middle of a scenic valley in a much more relaxed setting.
Other local spots include Dartmouth Orchards (North Dartmouth, MA) and Pippin Orchards (Cranston, RI)

Best Time: Early Fall (before things get too hectic or Halloweeny!)
Price: $
Scary Scale: 0

Pumpkin Picking
There are few things I love more than decorating for fall, so finding the perfect pumpkin is important! 4 Town Farm (Seekonk, MA) offers actual PYO pumpkins while the following farms have fields and fields of gourds to choose from:
Shelburne Farm (Stow, MA) • Carver Hill Orchard (Stow, MA) •
Boston Hill Farm (North Andover, MA) • Lookout Farm (South Natick, MA)
Nihtila Farm (Holbrook, MA) • Applecrest Farm (Hampton Falls, NH)

Best Time: Early Fall (so you have time to decorate and carve)
Price: $
Scary Scale: 0

Visit Salem
This might be my absolute favorite Halloween activity. As a child, I grew up reading books about the Salem With Trials and have been interested ever since. My family and I make the trek to the haunted little town every year and visit museums, graveyards, shops and haunted houses. Salem is bountiful in all things Halloween, so be sure to do your research before you go. Some of my favorites are the Salem Witch Museum, the Witch House and visiting the houses used in the filming of Hocus Pocus. Speaking of houses, be sure to check out the beautiful homes that line Chestnut Street and the adjacent roads.

Best Time: Mid to Late October. Be warned: Halloween Week is crazy here!
Price: $$-$$$

Other Haunted Happenings

Southern New England Giant Pumpkin Growers Weigh Off

Head over to Warren, RI on October 6th to see some massive pumpkins, get lots in a corn maze, build scarecrows and take a hayride. Enjoy food trucks and shopping as well!

Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular

A local classic, who could forget about this? Surround yourself with over 5,000 pumpkins intricately carved by talented artists. Get tickets here.

A fun event for adults and kids alike. Head over to this food truck festival that has plentiful fall activities, and of course, booze!

I think this event is SO cool. Especially since Lizzie Borden is such a historic local figure. While this event is not cheap, I would think it would be incredible worth it.

While the Lawn on D is always an iconic spot, on October 27th it will be getting a spooky makeover. Not all the details have been released yet, but the event will be free with food and drink available for purchase.

Halloween at the Castle
This event is super, super cool. Party in a literal castle as ticket proceeds go towards restoring its historic beauty. There are three levels, an open bar, food, DJs and a costume contest. It is held on October 27th this year, get your tickets here.

That's it from me for now! Let me know if you attend any of these events or if you have any suggestions leave them in the comments!
